Sculptra for the Knees

Reduce Crepiness

Details & FAQs:

Crepey skin in the knee area is a common part of the aging process, as it’s an effect of normal loss of skin elasticity over time. Sagging or crepey skin in this area can also be attributed to weight loss or excess sun exposure.

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biostimulatory injectable filler that helps gradually replace collagen (the protein in the body responsible for skin elasticity) that’s lost over time due to aging. Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates the body’s collagen production.

When we inject Sculptra into the knee area, the product begins stimulating collagen synthesis in the treated area, which reduces crepiness and restores elasticity over time.

How long will the procedure take, and what's the downtime?

Sculptra Knee treatments take approximately 1 hour.

Expect some swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness in the area post-treatment that should resolve within 1-2 weeks.

How many treatments will I need? When will I see results?

Because Sculptra is a collagen stimulator, it takes a few weeks to a few months to see visible results. We’ll determine your unique treatment plan based on your goals and concerns. While every patient is different, we usually recommend starting with 6-10 vials per visit. Typically, a minimum of 3 treatment sessions is necessary to achieve the desired outcome.

Results usually start to become present around 3-4 months after your initial treatment.

Maintenance:

Sculptra Knee treatments can last from 2-5 years.

We recommend our patients schedule an annual filler evaluation and injection session to maintain best results.
